Yes, Ortley Beach is a public beach in New Jersey, but, access to the beach does require beach badges. Children 12 or under do not need a beach badge.
You can get a daily badge from the badge checkers that are on the boardwalk at each of the beach access points. In 2023 the cost of a daily badge was $11 during the week and $12 on the weekends and holidays. If you are visiting for the week, you can also buy a weekly badge. The 2023 cost for a weekly badge was $40.
Does Ortley Beach Have Bathrooms?
Yes! There are bathrooms at the end of Fielder Avenue and at the Lifeguard Station 4th Ave. You will also find outdoor showers at these locations. There is no place to specifically change on the boardwalk.
For a special treat on the beach, use the Beach Butler! They will set your chairs, umbrellas, coolers, etc. on the beach in the morning and return them back home at the end of the day. They will also deliver food from Bakin’ Bagels, Safu Sushi, Beach Bagel, and Sunny Hunny!

If the fish is not pulled from the local waters that morning, the owner is going to the Fulton Fish Market in the Bronx to pick out only the freshest fish. They do have a Clam Bar where you can sit down to enjoy homemade meals, soups, and salads, or take them to go.
